Each of us is an essential part of God’s creation.

Each of us has God’s hand inside us. We have a choice to make. We can acquiesce to the forces that pull us toward anxiety, discomfort, and separation. Or we can live with agency to feel, to be shaped by, and to be connected by God’s Love. It is our choice to be nurtured in His living water or walk in the desert.

Let us pray to the earth from which we are formed:

We give you thanks, most gracious God, for the beauty of earth and sky and sea; for the richness of mountains, plains, and rivers; for the songs of birds and the loveliness of flowers. We praise you for these good gifts and pray that we may safeguard them for our posterity. Grant that we may continue to grow in our grateful enjoyment of your abundant creation, to the honor and glory of your Name, now and for ever.

Amen

Let us pray to the wind which stirs us into new orientations:

Lord of wind and spirit, your playful breath refreshes us, carrying away our many cares and lifting the burden of hectic schedules. Let us rejoice in its animation and experience the liveliness of your Spirit. Blow into our hearts with your life-giving Word.

Amen

Let us pray to the water which carries in the new and flushes out the old:

Creating God, your reign of love makes all things new. Plant seeds of confidence and gladness in our hearts. Surround them with your living water so that we may live no longer

for ourselves but for him who died and was raised for us, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

Let us pray to the fire which transforms what was once into the fertile space of what is to become.

Lord Jesus, thank You so much for never extinguishing the fire of Your Holy Spirit on the altar of my heart in my life. Help me, Lord, to keep the constant prayer and worship from my heart always burning.

Amen

I know the choice I am making today, tomorrow, and all the tomorrows to come. To enjoy the benefits of His creation fully, with courage and faith in the possible, because I have heard Him say so, I am serving His call to spread the Good News. My hope is that this exposure will awaken, change, cleanse, and ignite the Spirit within those wandering in the desert.

Humbly,

Peter
