SJC² Partnership
Theologically, we sit on the Anglican Three-Legged Stool of Scripture, Tradition, and Reason. We are working towards making our churches hubs of activity and spiritual health for our communities. A strong motivation for expanding and widening the parish is our vision of being able to make a significant impact on the lives of those who are in need and may be seeking His help. We want to create and maintain safe places, physically and mentally, for exploring the Christian pathway of Love to better ourselves and society.
We read and study scripture with a view to the historical and cultural context of the writers and their times. We also consider how to adopt and practice Jesus’ teaching within modern societal norms and technological changes.
Our churches are considered spiritual places, with several members from both churches who were inspired to seek and obtain ordination, both as priests and deacons.
We both want to continue to nurture our parish community in being Welcoming, Supportive, Curious, Willing, Forgiving, and Faithful.
As congregations, we lean toward being progressive, but we span the full spectrum between progressive and conservative.
While our members range in age from infants to those in their 90s, on average, the congregations have aged over the years, with a large number of retired members. We are striving to offer something to everyone of every age. No matter what age, we share compassion and support for each other.
Clergy, Vestry & Staff
Rev. Douglas K. Bleyle
received his M. Div. from Iliff School of Theology 2006 and a Th. M. from Candler School of Theology 2008. Doug loves responding to the common question, ‘where did you live growing up,’ with ‘in the Church,’ as he comes from a family of four ordained United Methodist ministers including his father. Prior to finally accepting the call to serve in ministry he worked as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist for 15 years in a private clinic in Denver, Colorado. Going into Seminary at Iliff he encountered the Anglican Studies seminarians and has never looked back. Doug has been involved in various ministries in the Episcopal Church including camp, indigenous ministries, COM, urban and rural mission/parish ministry. His last charge was Rector St. Barnabas of the Valley Cortez and as of July 1, 2025 is serving as Priest-in-Charge of the newly formed SJC Partnership of St. John Chrysostom and St. Joseph.
Rev Fr Chrysostom Frank
greatly appreciates the Anglo-Catholic strain within the Western liturgical tradition, but he also appreciates the liturgical reforms of the Roman Catholic Church in the 20th century, and wants to have a blend of both for the parish’s prayer book service.
The Rev. Chrysostom Frank
Frank is returning to his roots. He worshiped at an Episcopal church in Pennsylvania as a teenager. “I was always an Anglo-Catholic, from the time I was a child, even though I didn’t know what that was,” he said.
He began seminary studies as a Lutheran and spent a year as a pastoral intern in the Church of Sweden’s Diocese of Gothenburg. Swedish Lutherans suggested he finish his studies at Nashotah House, and that he should be ordained by an Episcopal bishop, as Lutherans in the United States did not have bishops then.
The late 1970s was a challenging time for the Episcopal Church, and Frank was troubled by the deep divisions over the ordination of women. He postponed ordination and attended the University of St. Andrews in Scotland to study the Caroline Divines, where he became interested in Orthodoxy. “Orthodoxy seemed like a way of avoiding things in the Episcopal Church I didn’t know how to handle.”
Frank is happy to return to the church he grew up in. “I’m doing what I’d wanted to do for a long time: return to the Episcopal Church,” he said. “I simply realized I’ve always been Anglican. The reception is much better than I expected.”
St John Chrysostom
ST. JOHN CHRYSOSTOM is an active church with devoted parishioners who have continued to hear GOD’s call and responded. Since 1974 we have shared GOD’s gifts with our local community and globally with outreach of our time and talents.
Mission Statement
We are to be a church where people know, experience, and share Christ.
Vision Statement
St. John Chrysostom is a church where people’s lives are transformed by the presence of GOD in this place, in our worship, our actions, and our relationships. We have a vision of becoming an active community center to Golden and Wheatridge and share our beautiful, sacred space with our neighbors. The Vestry and church members are working together to achieve that goal within the next two years.

We are a loving, caring community. A common theme among our members is that “people know you and care about you”. The cover of our weekly service bulletin may say it best.
You are welcome here.
No matter where you come from or what you're going through,
No matter what you believe or what you doubt,
No matter what you feel or just don't feel today,
No matter whom you love,
You are welcome into this space to be met by a GOD,
Who knows you by name, who knows your heart,
Who knows your mind, and
Who wants to have a relationship with you.
