You are welcome to join us

Welcome to our SJC² Partnership! St. John Chrysostom, St. Joseph and St. Mary Magdalene Equal to the Apostles are Episcopal communities who accept all just the way God created us. We hope you will come worship with us. You will be among friends.

Have questions about faith? So do we.

We are a partnership of three Episcopal communities exploring how ancient Christian traditions can speak meaningfully to the challenges and questions of modern life. We believe faith grows through worship, conversation, study, and service, not through having all the answers.

Whether you're searching for a church home, reconsidering what you've been taught, or simply curious about Christianity, you are welcome here.

Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to contact us or talk with our priests or a greeter when you visit.

  • 9:00am Sunday Prayer service is online only via Zoom.

9:30am Sunday outdoor service at St. Joseph, also available on Zoom.

10:00am St. John Chrysostom Sunday morning Worship Service in-person and on Zoom

Every 1st and 3rd Sunday, services for St. Mary Magdalene Equal to the Apostles are held at 11:45am. These services are in-person only at this time.

Thursdays feature online Bible Study from 10:00-11:00am. You are welcome to join us on Zoom.

  • When you arrive one of our Greeters will hand you a service bulletin. It will guide you through our service and help you to participate as fully as you are comfortable. We encourage you to ask for any help you may need. Worship usually begins by listening to scripture readings and prayer. We then gather around God’s table, sharing Holy Communion.

  • We use wine during Communion and a gluten-free wafer is also available. You may choose to receive none, both or either of these, or a blessing from the priest at the altar rail instead. ALL are welcome to share in this bread of life and cup of salvation.

If you prefer not to receive Holy Communion, you may come forward for a blessing. Crossing your forearms over your chest indicates to the priest that you are there for a blessing. After the blessing, simply return to your pew.

  • You may see each of these postures when you visit, depending on the season of the church. If a given posture is difficult for you, please choose another that is comfortable for you.

  • Please wear whatever makes you comfortable! We are a fairly casual community – you’ll see a lot of orange if the Broncos are playing, and shorts in the summer time! Come as you are!

  • Children are always welcome at Sunday services! St. Joseph offers a play area in the main sanctuary just for our precious children. St. John Chrysostom and St. Mary Magdalene Equal to the Apostles believe the sound of children is nothing but praise expressed through small voices.

  • Presiding Bishop, Michael Curry, "We are part of the Jesus Movement, and he has summoned us to make disciples and followers of all nations and transform this world by the power of the Good News, the gospel of Jesus. I don't care who you are, how the Lord has made you, what the world has to say about you, if you've been baptized into Jesus you're in the Jesus Movement and you're God's."

But wait, what if you don't call yourself a follower of Jesus? That's okay. You are welcome here; to explore, participate, learn, and grow. Your comments matter to us, and so does your faith formation. While this discipleship to Jesus is a defining characteristic of who we are, it does not exclude anyone from the conversation.

Much of what we believe can be found in our Baptismal Covenant or in Episcopal Traditions. Here it is in part:
I will proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ…
I will seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving my neighbor as myself…
I will strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being…

A summary of what we believe begins on page 845 in the Book of Common Prayer.
