Some Prayers for Creation from Morning Prayer lead by the Creation Care Team

All-powerful God, you are present in the whole universe and in the smallest of your creatures. You embrace with your tenderness all that exists.

Touch the hearts of those who look only for gain at the expense of the poor and the Earth. Teach us to discover the worth of each thing, to be filled with awe and contemplation, to recognize that we are profoundly united with every creature as we journey toward your infinite light.

We gather today to give thanks for the wonder of God’s creation and to honor the gifts that sustain us. To each has been given a purpose so that all might live for one another; the soil, the rocks, the sun, the water, the plants, the air, the creatures,.

We pray for all those who use these gifts to sustain human life, that we may partner with them to restore the health, fruitfulness, and beauty of the natural world.

We pray for the gifts of science and technology and for those who practice these skills, that they may know the limits of their knowledge and recognize the wisdom of creation.

We pray for the creatures, organisms, and people of the earth whose lives and deaths have contributed to the fruitful abundance of this planet.

Remember that we are sowers and not saviors. No matter what we do, there will be more to do. We do our faithful work for those who come after us. We follow the teachings of Jesus so that we may experience connection through resurrection and the joyful energy of restoration.
