Visiting?
Welcome to our SJC² Partnership! St. John Chrysostom and St. Joseph are Episcopal communities intentionally striving to be loving, open and drawn together in the love of Christ. We hope you will worship with us and consider us your church home. You will be among friends.
Visiting a new church may feel awkward and we know it might be difficult to walk through the door the first time. However, all who enter are welcome. You may see some people stand or kneel during the service — please do whatever is comfortable for you.
Below are some frequently asked questions. If you have any additional questions, don’t hesitate to contact us or talk with the priest or a greeter when you visit.

Worship
When you arrive one of our Greeters will hand you a service bulletin. It will guideyou through our service (along with some help from our LPL’s and Priest-in-Charge) and help you to participate fully. We encourage you to ask for any help you may need. Worship usually begins by listening to scripture readings and prayer. We then gather around God’s table, sharing Holy Communion. All, and we mean ALL are welcome at Christ’s table. The gifts of God are free. You do not need to be an Episcopalian to receive the sacraments. A gluten-free wafer is also available during communion. Just let an usher or pastoral leader know your requirements.
You are welcome here, no matter who you are!
What about the bread and wine?
We use wine during Communion and a gluten-free wafer is also available. You may choose to receive both or either of these, or a blessing from the priest at the altar rail instead. We usually begin by listening to scripture readings and prayer, then gather around God’s table, sharing Holy Communion. All, and we mean ALL are welcome at Christ’s table. The gifts of God are free and for you. You need not be an Episcopalian to receive the bread and wine… And remember, ALL are welcome to share in this bread of life and cup of salvation.
If you prefer not to receive Holy Communion, you may come forward for a blessing. Crossing your forearms over your chest indicates to the priest that you are there for a blessing. After the blessing, simply return to your pew.
Standing, Sitting & Kneeling
You may see each of these postures when you visit, depending on the season of the church. If a given posture is difficult for you, please choose another that is comfortable for you.
What should I wear?
Please wear whatever makes you comfortable! We are a fairly casual community – you’ll see a lot of orange if the Broncos are playing, and shorts in the summer time! Come as you are!
How do I find St. John’s or St. Joseph?
Google maps can be found here.
What about children?
Children are always welcome at Sunday services!
What does the Episcopal Church believe?
Much of what we believe can be found in our Baptismal Covenant or in Episcopal Traditions. Here it is in part:
I will proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ…
I will seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving my neighbor as myself…
I will strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being…
A summary of what we believe begins on page 845 in the Book of Common Prayer which can be found online here.
Accessibility
St. John’s is accessible with reserved handicap parking in front, a ramp to the main church entrance and accessible restrooms. Please let us know if you have any specific questions. We want you to feel at ease and welcome.
About the Offering of Money
A regular part of our worship is returning to God a portion of what God has given to us. This occurs in our service when the announcements are completed. As a visitor, you are under no obligation to participate in this offering. However, please feel free to do so if you wish.
